A Note on "Alu" (Abominations)
Across all four days, the greatest "don't" is committing Alu (an abomination). This includes acts like suicide, murder, or theft of yams. If an Alu occurs on a sacred market day, the entire community must perform a cleansing ritual to appease Ala (the Earth Goddess) before the market can be held again.
